Hi Everyone!

My name is Allie Fritsch and I am a Senior, who will be taking a 5th year…next year. I transferred to Marquette midway through my freshman year. I am from Whitefish Bay, WI which is about 10 minutes north of campus. so I have basically grown up going to basketball and volleyball games here. I never thought I would attend Marquette, because I originally went to culinary school in New York for a bit. Which was an experience within itself but I am so happy I transferred here, it feels like a second home to me.

PR was not my first choice. I never really knew what it was or that it was even a career. So after a little career searching and soul searching, I realized I wanted to work within the social media world. I am not talking about being an influencer or something like that, but I want to help companies run and create there social media identity. I love looking at a company’s social media and finding ways to improve there overall brand. Companies have amazing opportunities on social media to grow and I hope that I am able to play a part in expanding a brands social media to new levels!

I will be graduating in Spring of 2022. I am not quite sure what I EXACTLY want to do with my career, but I do know I want to work within the social media world, as I said before. I want to help companies elevate there social media and help create there identity. Previously, I have done a marketing internship through The Milwaukee Ballet, where I got the chance to work on there social media and PR campaigns. However, I would still like to explore different areas of social media. I am very interested in fashion, traveling, and stained glass, so I would like to explore careers in those areas as well.

I am excited and eager for this class. I can already tell it will be challenging, but worth it! I know my writing skills are not where they should be. However, I plan on changing that by using this class to better my PR writing skills.

Last semester, we were required to have a blog, where we would post our assignments and then tweet them out. I actually enjoyed doing this, because it gave it a more “real life” feel. People could actually see my work, where as if we were to just post on D2l, only the professor and other students can. It pushed me to do better. I am excited to use this blog as a tool now and in the future for my writing and PR career. I plan on exploring the career areas I am interested in like: fashion, traveling, and stained glass — in hope I can narrow my search.
